TRIUMPH OF ATHENA

Biography

One-act ballet.

Composer - Gustav Mahler, Symphony No. 4, G major. Libretto - Dyusenbek Nakipov. Choreography and staging - Dina Fadeyeva. Production designer - Lyudmila Kuzhel. Production conductor - Renat Salavatov.

The premiere, which took place on October 1, 2004 on the stage of the Abay SAOBT, was dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the creative activity of D. Nakipov and the presentation of his book "Woman and Purple".

Characters and performers: Zeus - Dmitry Sushkov; Hera - Alina Nakipova; Athena - Kuralai Sarkytbayeva; Persephone - Aliya Sapugova; Hades - Kanat Karazhanov; stars, shadows of the Underworld - ballet dancers.

Hades kidnapped the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, Persephone. The father is angry. To save Persephone, Zeus summons his other daughter, Athena. The goddess must persuade Hades to return the kidnapped Persephone.

Athena went to Tartarus and offers Hades a deal: Persephone will return to Olympus only for the springtime.

Seeing the tears of his beloved, the lord of the Underworld agrees, and now the happy Persephone is at home. With her appearance, spring comes. Everybody praise the wisdom of the goddess of war and victory. This is the triumph of Athena.
