AMARANTE Ricardo
Biography
(10.03.1980, Sao Paulo, Brazil) – ballet soloist, choreographer.
He completed professional training at the National Ballet School of Cuba and English National Ballet School, worked in the troupes of the Paris Opera and the Young Ballet of France.
In 2000 he was admitted to the Royal Ballet of Flanders (Antwerp, Belgium), where since 2008 he became a soloist, performed classical ballet performances, as well as productions by modern choreographers: C. Damboise, W. Forsythe, M. Heidi, Hans van Manen, J. Kylian, N. Fonte, J. Elo and others.
He made first attempts as a choreographer at the Royal Ballet of Flanders in Antwerp, the Ballet Theater of Dortmund (Germany), the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp, Palucca Schule in Dresden and the English National Ballet School. The ballets “Love Fear Loss” and “Experiencing the Divine” were successful with public and critics, and resulted in numerous invitations, contracts and participation in Gala concerts around the world. In March 2014, he collaborated with the New York City Ballet, where he created the ballet “Essential Shift” to the music of Sayo Kosugi, after which he was invited by the Royal Academy of Dance (London) to participate in the Genée International Ballet Competition.
In 2015, together with the Royal Ballet of Flanders, he presented the world premiere of the ballet “In Flanders Fields” by Sayo Kosugi, which was highly appreciated by the world’s leading dance magazines: “Dance Europe”, “Dancing Times”, “Dance Magazine”, “Financial Times”. The National Ballet of Cuba first performed the miniature “Love Fear Loss” in 2019, in dedication to A. Alonso. The ballets “Touch of Illusion” and “Silent Voices” were transferred to the stage of the National Opera of Ukraine in 2019. In 2018, the first production of “The Premiere” for the Atlanta Ballet (USA) took place.
The premiere of the ballet “Gaia” to the music of H. Tavares for the “Astana Ballet” Theater took place in February 2016, after which he began his creative activity as a permanent guest choreographer. His works: “Love Fear Loss”, “Gaia”, “A Fuego Lento”, “Diversity” and “Touch of Illusion” have been presented at the leading theater venues and festivals in New York, Paris, St. Peters- burg, Tokyo, London, Brussels, Warsaw, San Francisco, etc. In June 2018, the world premiere of the two-act ballet “Giselle” took place, in 2020 – the premiere of the ballet “Longing”.
In 2019 he staged the ballet “Bolero” to the music of Ravel in the Abay State Opera and Ballet Theater.
