BAYSEITOV Kanabek
Biography
15.03.1905, village of Kalpe, Karatal district, Almaty region - 10.03.1979, Alma-Ata.
Opera singer, film actor, director, playwright, translator. Honored Artist of the KazSSR (1934); Peoples artist of the KazSSR (1936); Laureate of the State Prize of the KazSSR (1944).
In 1925, he was admitted to the Kazakh Pedagogical College. Already during his student years, he was noticed as a talented actor. In 1920 he worked as a teacher of literacy and Arabic grammar. He was a secretary of the Revolutionary Committee, Chief of police.
Since the 1920s - participant in amateur performances.
1930-1933 - artist at the Kazakh Drama Theater;
1934 - drama artist, opera singer at the Kazakh Music and Drama Theater (Abay KazNOBT). The first performer of the leading roles in the performances "Aiman-Sholpan", "Shuga", "Kyz-Zhibek", etc.
In 1934 (January) - co-founder of the Abay SAOBT along with such artists as K. Baiseitova, K. Zhandarbekov, M. Tulebayev, Sh. Zhienkulova, M. Yerzhanov.
1934-1965 - opera soloist, director of the opera performances of the Abay SAOTB. Author of drama works and translator.
In 1934, as a director, he took part in production of the musical play "Kyz-Zhibek" in collaboration with the author of the libretto G. Musrepov, composer Y. Brusilovsky, stage director Zh. Shanin, production ballet master A. Alexandrov. The performance was enriched by Kazakh folk dances, which organically formed the plot outline. Co-author of the libretto for the ballet "Dzungarian Gate", which he created in tandem with Moscow composer L. Stepanov (1957). In 1958, during the preparation for the Decade of Kazakh Art and Literature in Moscow, the ballet "Dzungarian Gate" was significantly revised in terms of musical score and choreography. The premiere of the revised ballet under the new title "On the way of Friendship" took place on July 5, 1958. The co-author of K. Baiseitov on the libretto was R. Zakharov, who cleared the plot of the unnecessary mimic mise-en-scenes, having changed the plot of the ballet as a whole, highlighting the through action more clearly.
