Biography

(04.10.1949, Bra, Italy) - dancer, teacher, choreographer.

He studied at the ballet school in Turin in the class of Susanna Egri.

1973 - began his professional career in the troupe of the Kulberg Ballet, became the principal dancer after performing the main roles in the performances "Adam and Eve", "Romeo and Juliet".

1975 - was invited by R. Petit to the troupe of the Marseille National Ballet for the role of Coppelius in the ballet "Coppelia". He danced the main roles in the ballets "The Young Man and Death", "Notre Dame de Paris", "The Phantom of the Opera", "Charlot Dances With Us", etc. In different periods in these and other ballets, his partners were the outstanding performers of the time: M. Fonteyn, R. Nureyev, N. Makarova, A. Ferri, Z. Jeanmaire and others.

At the invitation of R. Petit, he became his assistant at the productions of several ballets: "Heaven and Hell" (1984), "My Pavlova" (1986), "The Blue Angel" (1988), etc. During his lifetime, the outstanding choreographer entrusted him with the revival of his ballets for different companies around the world.

Two ballets staged by Bonino are performed at the "Astana Opera" Theatre: "Notre Dame de Paris" (2016) and "Coppelia" (2019). In the ballet "Coppelia" at the premiere, he performed the role of Coppelius, which Roland Petit created for himself and passed on to him.
