Biography
(07.08.1884, St. Petersburg - 17.05.1942, Tashkent) - ballet master. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (???).
In 1902 he graduated from the St. Petersburg Theater School. From 1903 he was a ballet dancer at the Mariinsky Theatre, a colleague of M. Fokine.
The ballet master's activity began in 1919. Among the productions, the ballet "Schubertiana" (1922) is considered the best. He recorded the performances by M. Petipa, L. Ivanov, J. Perrot and others according to the system of V. Stepanov.
As a ballet master, he staged dances in operas and operettas: "The Yellow Jacket" to the music by F. Lehar, "The Black Amulet" to the music by N. Strelnikov, "The Clown" to the music by M. Kraus, "The Snow Maiden" to the music by N. Rimsky-Korsakov, "Jump over the shadow" to the music of E. Krenek. Since 1920 A.I. Chekrygin - tutor and restorer of the ballets in the S. Kirov Theater, Head of the choreographic unit at the Maly Opera Theater of Leningrad, since 1930 - ballet master of the Bolshoi Theater of the USSR, ballet dancer and teacher of classical dance.
In the 30s of the XX century A.I. Chekrygin, as an experienced teacher of the Moscow Choreographic School, prepared for graduation a group of the Kazakh students who studied in Moscow, including the future soloists of the Kazakh ballet M. Akhmediyev, K. Aidarov. In the Abay Kazakh Opera and Ballet Theatre he worked in the 1939-1940 season, where he staged the ballet "Spring" to the music of I. Nadirov (1940).
