Biography

06.02.1933, Alma-Ata – 24.01.1999, Almaty.

Ballet dancer. Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR (1959). People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR (1966). Professor (1994). Deputy of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR (1959).

Laureate of the All-Union Classical Dance Competition in Moscow (1957). Holder of the Order of the Labor Red Banner (1959). Holder of the Order of the Labor Red Banner (1971). Holder of the Peoples Friendship Order(1981).

1941-1951 – pupil of the secondary school No. 40 in Alma-Ata.

1946-1952 – student of the Kazakh State Choreographic School. Teacher Alexander Seleznev.

1952-1954 – after the first success at the All-Union Review of Choreographic Schools, where dancers from Alma-Ata took 2nd place after dancers from Moscow and Leningrad, who shared the 1st place, S. Kusherbayeva was sent for the internship at the A.Ya. Vaganova LSCS (1950-1954), teachers: V.S. Kostrovitskaya, N. A. Kamkova.

1954-1974 – prima ballerina of the Abay Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre . She made her solo debut as Parasha in "The Bronze Horseman" ballet. The repertoire includes more than 30 leading roles in the ballets of classical and national choreography such as Odette-Odile ("Swan Lake"), Aurora ("Sleeping Beauty"), Masha ("The Nutcracker"), Francesca ("Francesca da Rimini"); Kitri ("Don Quixote"), Nikiya ("La Bayadère"); Esmeralda ("Esmeralda"); Giselle ("Giselle"), Henrietta, Fanny (J. Strauss "The Great Waltz"), Bayan-Sulu ("Kozy-Korpesh and Bayan-Sulu"), Shirin ("Legend of Love"), Suji (G. Zhubanova "Hiroshima"), Syuinbike ("Shurale"), Mazurka, 7th Waltz ("Chopiniana"), Makhtum ("Chin-Tomur"), Kuralai ("On the Way of Friendship") etc. Among the concert numbers - "Death of Carmen" to "Rondo Capriccioso" by C. Saint-Saens in the choreography of Z. Raibayev.

1973-1974 – teacher-tutor at the Abay Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.

1975-1986 – director of the Alma-Ata Choreographic School, teacher of classical dance. The result of the work of S. Kusherbayeva as the director, was the production of new concert pieces, including: "Penguins" by M. Tleubaev and "Suvorovites" by Z. Raybaev and other pieces staged by the invited choreographers of the USSR. Trips of the students in large groups to Moscow to participate in the opening of the Party Congresses, the Olympics-80 (1980). International Festival of Youth and Students in 1985. Particularly gifted students participated at the International ballet competitions.

1986-1999 – teacher of classical dance at the A.V. Seleznev Alma-Ata Choreographic School.

1994-1999 – professor of the Faculty of Choreography of T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts, teacher of the discipline "Classical Heritage".

Students of S. I. Kusherbayeva are the leading ballerinas, teachers-tutors in the troupes of the Kazakh theaters and other countries of the world, researchers of the ballet art: People's Artist of Russia N. Chekhovskaya (ballet "Moscow"), People's Artist of Russia, prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia N. Gracheva , A. Burakanova (Poland), S. Ashimova (Croatia); Honored Figures of Kazakhstan (Abay SAOBT) A. Askarbekova, S. Rakhmedova, A. Musinova, leading ballerinas N. Krebayeva, A. Djumagulova, A. Abdullina (K. Baiseitova NOBT).

Awards: Laureate of the All-Union Competition of Classical Dance in Moscow (1957), Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1959, 1971), Order of Peoples’ Friendship (1981).
