Biography

Opera- ballet.

Music - Balnur Kydyrbek. Libretto - Kauken Kenzhetayev, based on the poem of the same title by Shakarim Kudaiberdiyev. Directed by Esmukhan Obayev. Production ballet master - Tursynbek Nurkaliyev. Conductor - Alikhan Idrisov.

The premiere took place on January 19, 2007 at the K. Baiseitova NOBT.

Characters and performers: Mamyr - Gulfairus Kurmangozhayeva, Kalkaman - Zhandos Aubakirov.

The story of the lovers Kalkaman and Mamyr, who, according to the Kazakh customs, cannot be together, received a new expression in the opera-ballet genre, where the director's construction echoes the structure of an ancient tragedy. The choir, in addition to a purely vocal function, expresses the inner voice of the main characters and is one of the sides in the theatrical conflict. The ballet dancers express the inner world and souls of the main characters, helping the viewer to better understand the tragedy of the young lovers.

In 2022, at the Astana Opera Theatre, director Yuri Alexandrov staged a new production of the opera-ballet. Conductor - Abzal Mukhitdin. Chief choirmaster - Yerzhan Dautov. Choreographer - Nadezhda Kalinina. Scenographers and costume designers - Pavel Dragunov, Sofiya Tasmagambetova.

Characters and performers: Mamyr - Anel Rustemova, Gulnaz Zhanayeva; Kalkaman - Sungat Kydyrbai, Bekzat Orynbayev.

The plot is based on a drama about the prohibition of marital kinship relations, however, the idea of the primary value of the unity of the people is the fundamental idea of the performance.
