One-act ballet.
Music - Sergei Prokofiev, Edward William Elgar, George Frideric Handel, Davidson Giaconello. Choreography, libretto, lighting - Kristina Paulin. Scenography - Otto Bubenichek. Costumes - Dennis Peschke.
The ballet was created for the troupe of the Astana Ballet Theatre, the premiere of the performance took place on July 5, 2022.
Characters and performers: Orpheus, writer and publisher - Wesley Carvalho; Eurydice, his wife and muse - Tatyana Ten; Aristaeus, unsuccessful writer - Eldar Sarsembayev; Hades, god of the underworld - Baikhadam Tungatarov; Persephone, wife of Hades - Natalia Fernandez-Menes; Cerberus, the three-headed dog - Akkali Turgali; Charon - Arthur Edson; Monk - Serik Amanzhol; Eros, the god of love - Ilya Manaenkov; Psychea - Nazerke Aimukhametova.
"Orpheus and Eurydice" is a choreographic interpretation of the myth of ancient Greece in the neoclassical style with modern elements. In the ballet, the choreographer answers philosophical and spiritual questions about the meaning of life and immortality of the soul, glorifies the sincerity of feelings, the supremacy of the power of love and art. Orpheus is a famous writer, Eurydice is his beloved, muse and source of inspiration. “Sometimes, when you live in the world of the living, you feel dead, because there is no one with whom you feel alive” (K. Paulin).
