INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION OF CHOREOGRAPHIC EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS ORLEU
Biography
The founders of the competition are the A. Seleznev ACS and the Eurasian Cultural Foundation. The purpose and objective of the competition is to get acquainted with the creative experience of choreographic schools, exchange of experience in teaching classical and folk dances, show of the creative achievements of the students, and identification of young talents.
The I International Competition of Choreographic Educational Institutions "Orleu" was held in 2008 at the A. Seleznev ACS. The sponsors of the competition were the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - the Leader of the Nation, A.V. Seleznev ACS, Eurasian Cultural Foundation, PetroKazakhstan company. In different periods, students of choreographic schools from Russia, Korea, Japan, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, Portugal, Germany, Austria, the Republic of South Africa, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Kazakhstan took part in the competition.
In different periods, the jury included: People’s Artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky (Russia), People’s Artist of the USSR Ramazan Bapov, Honored Artist of Russia and Kazakhstan Yuri Vasyuchenko, Honored Art Figure of the RF Valeria Uralskaya, People’s Artist of the RK Gulzhan Tutkibayeva, People’s Artist of Uzbekistan Guli Khamrayeva, Honored Artist of the Hungarian Republic Gyula Harangozo, Honored Artist of Kyrgyzstan Aigul Murataliyeva, Director of the Japanese Ballet Association Katsuhiro Kodama, Head of the ballet troupe of the Korean Theater Yun Sung-Hung, Director of the choreography department of the Ankara State Conservatory at the Hacettepe University Muride Sun Aksan (Turkey) and others.
In November 2018, at the International Ballet Forum "Ballet of the XXI Century", the Assembly of the Federation of International Ballet Competitions decided to include the International Competition of Choreographic Educational Institutions "Orleu" into the Federation.
The competition is held in the following nominations: 1. "Classical dance" in 3 age categories: junior, middle and senior group; 2. Folk- stage, folk,folklore, folk stylized dance in 2 groups: A - students of vocational schools aged 16-19, B - private schools and art colleges aged 15-20; 3. "Modern choreography" (contemporary, jazz-modern, neoclassical and other directions) in 2 groups: A - students of professional educational institutions aged 16-19 (senior group), B - artists of theaters and other dance groups aged 19- 23.
The competition is held every 2 years.
110 contestants from six countries took part in the I competition (2008), 72 participants became the Laureates and Diploma winners.
The II competition (2010). At the opening of the competition, the ballet "Dedication to Marius Petipa" staged by B. Ayukhanov and performed by the artists of the State Academic Dance Theater was shown. 125 contestants from 12 countries took part, 81 participants became the Laureates and Diploma holders.
The III competition (2012) was dedicated to the memory of the Honored Figure of the RK K.I. Murzakhanova, who made a great contribution to the development of choreographic education in Kazakhstan. 125 contestants from 12 countries took part, 73 participants became the Laureates.
The IV competition (2014) was dedicated to the anniversary of the A. V. Seleznev ACS and in memory of the People's Artist of the USSR Ramazan Bapov. 120 contestants from different countries took part in the competition, 51 participants became the Laureates and Diploma holders.
The V competition (2016) is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Seleznev, the 25th anniversary of the Independence of the RK, the 1000th anniversary of Almaty city. 121 people from 9 countries took part, 48 participants became the Laureates.
The VI competition (2018). More than 150 participants from 10 countries took part, 29 students of ACS and more than 30 participants from other educational institutions became the Laureates.
The VII competition (2021) was held online and was combined with the festival.
VIII competition (2023). 193 participants from 5 countries took part, 42 participants became the Laureates, 17 participants became Diploma winners.
