Biography
One-act ballet.
Music - Fazil Say. Choreography - Mukaram Avakhri. Libretto - Mukaram Avakhri, Dilara Shomayeva. Scenography and costumes - Olga Shaishmelashvili.
The ballet was created for the troupe of the Astana Ballet Theatre, the premiere took place on February 16, 2018.
Characters and performers: Herod, tetrarch of Judea - Kazbek Akhmedyarov; Herodias, wife of the tetrarch - Riza Kanatkyzy; John the Baptist, prophet - Farkhad Buriyev; Salome, daughter of Herodias and stepdaughter of Herod - Aizhan Mukatova.
The ballet is based on a play by Oscar Wilde, whose unexpected and shocking interpretation of a famous biblical story inspired the choreographer to create the performance. Salome falls in love with the prophet John, but is rejected three times by him. The offended young princess performs a dance at the feast of her stepfather, King Herod, who promises to fulfill her every wish. Salome demands to execute John and present her the head of the prophet on a silver platter, but not in order to take revenge, but in order to merge with him in a kiss, even if the price of this kiss is the death of the beloved.
