SALTANAT STATE DANCE ENSEMBLE OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

Biography

By the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on June 20, 1955, the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Kazakh SSR was created. The team consisted of young graduates of Alma-Ata and Kyiv Conservatories, Leningrad and Alma-Ata music schools. The first leader and creator of the ensemble is the People's Artist of KazSSR, Honored Artist of UkSSR Lidiya Chernysheva (period of team leadership: 1955-1960, 1962-1971). The leaders of the ensemble at different periods: the People’s Artist of KazSSR Z. M. Raibayev (1971-1972; 1974-1978; 1984-1994); Honored Artist ofKazSSR A. M. Ismailov (1972-1976); E.A. Ussin (1978-1984).

The concert program of the ensemble was modeled based on the example of the State ensembles of the Union Republics of the USSR. The program directing of the ensemble was carried out through vocal and choreographic compositions. The team actively participated in various festivals and competitions, toured throughout the Soviet Union and abroad, it is the winner of the All-Union Festival and the Laureate of the World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow (1957). In 1967 by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR for great achievements in the development of musical, vocal, choreographic art and high performing skills, the ensemble was awarded the honorary title "Honored".

In 1989, at the initiative of Z.M. Raibayev, by the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR, the State Song and Dance Ensemble of the Kazakh SSR was transformed into the State Dance Ensemble "Saltanat". During this period, along with national dances, the ensemble's repertoire was replenished with productions by the well-known ballet masters of the Union Republics and foreign countries.

In 1994-2022, the team was headed by G.A. Orymbayeva, Honored figure of Kazakhstan, holder of the orders "Kurmet" and "Parasat", who made a great contribution to the development of the repertoire. The ensemble actively participates in all significant government events, performs on various stages, goes on tours to the regions of Kazakhstan, China, the USA, France, India, Turkey, Belgium, etc.
