Biography
(01.01.1904, Tashkent- 18.04.1974, Nukus, Karakalpak ASSR) - painter, stage designer. People's Artist of the USSR (1963), Full member of the Academy of Arts, Chairman of the Union of Artists of Uzbekistan (1956-1959), Laureate of the Khamza State Prize of Uzbekistan (1973), was awarded the Lenin Order, the Order "Buyuk hizmatlari uchun" (2001, posthumously).
Graduated from Penza Art College (1928-1929). A trip to Moscow (1929) and visits to the best museums of the country influenced on his stylistic searches and the creation of the author's works: "Tashkent people", "Portrait of the Uzbek", "Street in Tashkent", "Charvak", "Nomad camp", etc. Landscape became the main genre in his creative work: “Evening on the Syr Darya”, “Steppe”, “High-mountain skating rink Medeo”, “Autumn in the mountains”, “Winter in Alma-Ata”, etc.; series of works: "Chirchik", "On the war roads", "Issyk-Kul Lake".
In 1938 he was invited to Alma-Ata as a theater designer to work on the sketches of scenery and costumes for the first Kazakh national ballet "Kalkaman and Mamyr" by V. Velikanov (1938).
The works of U.T. Tansykbayev are presented in the Tretyakov Gallery, State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Museum of Arts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts.
