Biography
13.09.1923, Oiyl district, Ural province (now Aktobe region) – 13.11.1998, Alma-Ata.
Ballet dancer, film actress. Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR (1954). Holder of “Badge of Honor” Order (1959).
In 1931-1936 she studied at the Kazakh seven-year school of the Oyil district.
Since 1934 – she performed with dances, singing and reciting poetry in an amateur troupe, which was later transformed into the Kazakh Drama Theater of the Oiyl collective state farm.
In 1936, having learned about the brilliant success of the Kazakh theatre and especially its best representatives Kulyash Baiseitova and Shara Zhienkulova at the first Decade of Kazakh Art and Literature in Moscow, Nursulu went to Alma-Ata against the will of her parents.
1936-1939 – received ballet education in the studio of the Kazakh Musical Theatre with teachers A. Alexandrov, L. Zhukov, A. Chekrygin. Refusing to go to study in Moscow or Leningrad, as she wanted to fulfill her dream of performing on the stage of the theater as soon as possible.
1937-1939 – corps de ballet dancer of the Kazakh State Opera and Ballet Theatre. In parallel with the studies at the studio, she performed in the current repertoire. In the opera "Kyz-Zhibek" and the ballet "Kalkaman and Mamyr" she doubled Shara Zhienkulova.
1939-1940 – soloist of the ballet Abay Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
1940-1953 – leading ballerina of the Abay Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Repertoire: Zarema (“The Fountain of Bakhchisarai”), Dariga (first performance, “Spring”), Jacinta (first performance, “Laurencia”), Nazim (“Kambar and Nazim”), Soloist (“Kazakh Dance Suite”), Mercedes ("Spanish Capriccio"), Spanish dance ("Swan Lake"), four friends ("Kalkaman and Mamyr"). Performer of solo dances in the national operas "Kyz Zhibek", "Abay", "Birzhan and Sara", "Dudaray", "Nazigum" etc.
The dramatic expressiveness of Nursulu Tapalova was especially revealed in the role of Zarema. In this particular role the ballerina made up a worthy ensemble to G. Ulanova, who in the theatrical season of 1942-1943, being in evacuation in Alma-Ata, performed the part of Maria in the performance “The Fountain of Bakhchisarai” on the stage of the Abay Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
1953-1975 – solo activity in Kazakhconcert, Kazakh State Philharmonic named after Dzhambul. She headed the ensemble and was engaged in solo Estrada activities in the genre of vocal and choreographic miniatures. The dancer's repertoire included Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Azerbaijani, Russian and other dances.
1958 – with a concert program, Nursulu Tapalova took part in the Decade of Kazakh Art and Literature in Moscow.
She acted in the first Kazakh films: Sabira in the film "White Rose" (1943), Saltanat in the film "Dzhambul" (1952).
Awards: Medal "For the development of virgin lands" (1957), “Badge of Honor” Order (1959).
