Biography

One-act ballet.

Composer - Henry Purcell, based on the music for the performances "The Gordian Knot Unleashed", "Abdelazar", pavanes from the play "Pavane and Chaconne for Strings" (arranged by Simon Sadov). Libretto - José Limon, based on William Shakespeare's tragedy “Othello”. Choreography - Jose Limon. Choreographer - Marina Aleksidze (Tbilisi, Georgia). The costumes are designed in the style of Paulina Lawrence.

The premiere took place in 1990 on the stage of the Abay SAOBT.

Characters and performers: Moor - Askar Nusupov; Desdemona - Raushan Baiseitova; Iago - Samat Askarbekov; Emilia - Alma Askarbekova.

In the performance, in unusually sharp poses and insinuating soft movements of the “neoclassicism” style, the eternal themes of art are reflected. The choreography is distinguished by a clear structure and form. The quartet of the main characters performs dances of love and friendship, burning jealousy and betrayal, death and exposure…

This ballet does not leave a feeling of hopelessness and tragedy, but a feeling of light sadness, causing catharsis - "purification through compassion."
