TUGAN ZHER DANCE ENSEMBLE

Biography

The ensemble was created on August 10, 2010 at the initiative of the SE “Akan Sery Regional Philharmonic" of the Department of Culture, Development of Languages and Archival Affairs of the Akimat of the North Kazakhstan region. The first leader and founder of the team is Mikhail Lakhtin (2010-2017), since 2017 the leader is M.S. Tonkov, ballet master S.E. Zhumazhanov. The repertoire of the ensemble includes Kazakh folk dances and dances of the world's peoples, the most famous of which are “Mereke bi” by Z. Raibayev, “Zhastyk Duman” by A. Kulbekova, “Shashu” by M. Lakhtin; Russian dances "Topotukha" and "Khlopukha" by M. Tonkov; Korean dance "Jeongjae" by M. Tonkov and S. Zhumazhanov; Chechen male dance "Nokhchi" by S. Zhumazhanov and M. Tonkov, Uzbek dance "Kishmish" and "Andijancha" by T. Saliyeva. In January 2023, together with the vocalists of the Philharmonic, they presented the musical "The Bremen Town Musicians" in Astana.

The team is an active participant in various cultural events, festive concerts of the city and regional scale: XVIII International Festival of Culture and Art in Turkey (Adala, Salihli, 2011); International folk dance festival "YURTKUR 50th YEAR" (Antalya, July 2011), celebration of the 5th anniversary of the autonomy of the Kazakhs of the Tyumen region (Tyumen, Russia, 2012). It takes part in cultural events of a republican scale: V National Forum of Patriots of Kazakhstan "Menin Kazakhstanym" (Astana, December 2012); XX session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (Astana, April 2013); Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Astana, December 2013); Grand opening of the year of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan (Astana, March 2015); Festive theatrical performance dedicated to the 550th anniversary of the Kazakh Khanate (Astana, September 2015); XV Forum of Interregional Cooperation of the RK and Russia (Astana, November 2018); Opening of the Year of Culture of the RK in Uzbekistan (Tashkent, April 2019); XVI Forum of Interregional Cooperation of the RK and Russia (Omsk, November 2019).

Laureate of the II, IV and I Prizes of Sh. Zhienkulova VІ Republican Competition of Kazakh dance (Astana, 2012, 2023); winner of a special Prize at the International Folk Dance Competition in the nomination "Ensembles" (Cheonan, South Korea, 2014); Laureate of the I Prize of the online festival-competition "World ART Dance" Fiestalonia International company (Spain, 2020).
