Biography
29.05.1956, Leningrad.
Ballet dancer, teacher-tutor, ballet master. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1985), Laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize (1981). Laureate of International Competitions:
1974 - graduated from A. Ya. Vaganova LSCS, teachers: N. Boyarchikov, V. Semenov, A. Kumysnikov.
2001 - student of the MSAC, specialty “Ballet master, choreographer”, course of Y. Grigorovich and G. Mayorov.
1974-1976 - ballet soloist, leading dancer of the SOBT of the Lithuanian SSR (Vilnius), made his debut as Bacchus ("Walpurgis Night");
1976-1980 - leading soloist of the Abay SAOBT, (Alma-Ata). Repertoire: Siegfried (“Swan Lake”), Desiree (“Sleeping Beauty”), Romeo (“Romeo and Juliet”), Albert (“Giselle”), Basil (“Don Quixote”); Kerbuga ("Aksak Kulan") etc.
1980-1995 - leading soloist of the SABT of the USSR (Moscow), debuted as Albert ("Giselle"). Performed leading roles in the ballets: "The Nutcracker", "Swan Lake" by P. Tchaikovsky, "Walpurgis Night" by Ch. Gounod, "Giselle" by A. Adam, "Spartacus" by A. Khachaturian, "Ivan the Terrible”, “Romeo and Juliet” by S. Prokofiev, “Don Quixote”, “Paquita”, “La Bayadère” by L. Minkus, “The Firebird” by I. Stravinsky .
Since 1988, he taught not only in Russia, but also abroad, including at the Covent Garden Theatre.
1993-2009 - he taught male classical and duet-classical dance at the MSAC.
2009-2016 - he headed the ballet troupe of the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. During his work as the theatre’s chief ballet master, he staged dances in seven operas, restored an act from the ballet “Paquita” by L. Minkus (choreography based on M. Petipa), Pas-de-six from the ballet “Markitenka” by C. Pugni (A. Saint - Leon), “Vision of the Rose” to music by C. M. von Weber (choreography by M. Fokine), Pas de quatre by C. Pugni (choreography by A. Dolin based on the motives of J. Perrot), the scene “Walpurgis Night” from the opera C. Gounod (choreographer L. Lavrovsky) etc. Staged in his version the ballets “Don Quixote” by L. Minkus, “Swan Lake” by P. Tchaikovsky, the original ballet “The Secret of the Vienna Woods” to music by G. Mahler and I. Strauss, an opera and choreographic version of the cantata "Carmina Burana" by Carl Orff.
2016-2019 - teacher-tutor of the ballet troupe of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia.
Awards: Laureate of the All-Union Competition of Ballet Dancers and Ballet Masters (I Prize, Moscow, 1980); Laureate of the IBC in Varna (III Prize, Bulgaria, 1981); Laureate of the IBC in Moscow (III Prize, 1981).
