ALEKSIDZE Georgy Dmitrievich
Biography
(01.01.1940, Tbilisi - 20.06.2008, Tbilisi) - ballet master, teacher. People's Artist of the Georgian SSR (1989).
1960 - graduated from Moscow Choreographic School in the class of A. Messerer.
1966 - graduated from the Ballet Master's department of the Leningrad Conservatory, workshop of F. Lopukhov.
1961-1962 - danced in the troupe of the Paliashvili Georgian Opera and Ballet Theatre (Vanechka in "Doctor Aibolit", Neapolitan dance in "Swan Lake", Pa-de-deux in "La Fille mal gardee").
1966 - made his debut as a choreographer on the stage of the Leningrad Philharmonic with a program of ballet miniatures (Diploma thesis).
In different periods he worked as the chief ballet master of the Paliashvili Georgian Opera and Ballet Theatre; chief ballet master of the Perm Theatre.
1967-1973, 1981-1985 - teacher of the Ballet Master's department of the Leningrad Conservatory.
The author of many chamber choreographic works and one-act ballets: "The Oresteia" (1968), "Scythian Suite" (1969), "Kiss of the Fairy" (1970), "Legend of the Svans" ("Dali and the Hunter") by S. Tsintsadze, "Medea" by R. Gabichvadze (1978), "Cinderella" (1980); "Mozartiana", "The Trial of Damis, or Lady-the Servant", "Prodigal Son" (1981); "Sylvia" (1982). He staged the ballets in the theaters in Vilnius, Tallinn, Yerevan, Almaty.
In the Abay SAOBT G. Aleksidze staged two ballets: he transferred Jose Limon's ballet "The Moor's Pavane" (1990) and staged the author's national ballet "Karagoz" to the music of G. Zhubanova, the libretto for the ballet was written by A. Mambetov in collaboration with the choreographer (1990).
