Biography
RSE on REM "Kazakh National Academy of Choreography", CC MCS RK was established on June 30, 2021 on the basis of NJSC "Kazakh National Academy of Choreography", which was founded by the Decree of the Government of the RK No. 126 dated March 11, 2015. The opening took place on August 31, 2016 in Astana. By the Decree of the President of the RK N.A. Nazarbayev, Altynai Asylmuratova was appointed the Rector of the Academy; artistic director - Assel Kurmanbayeva. Since 2022, the Rector of the Academy is Bibigul Nusipzhanova, the artistic director is A. Asylmuratova, the Head of the school-college is S. Kokshinova. A. Alisheva, A. Kulbekova, E. Andagulov, D. Abdrasilova, G. Kesekova, Zh. Kaimekina (Kussainova), Sh. Kozjanova and others took an active part in the organization and preparation of educational institution for the opening.
The Kazakh National Academy of Choreography is the first higher educational institution in Central Asia with a full cycle of multi-level professional choreographic education. The HEI includes the following levels of education: primary, technical and vocational, higher (Bachelor program), postgraduate (Master and PhD programs).
The main mission and objective of the Academy is training of talented performers and choreographers, researchers and art managers, whose skills and efforts will be aimed at the formation of a new national brand of Kazakhstan in choreographic art and culture. The main activity of the HEI is training of personnel in the following areas: “Ballet dancer” and “Artist of dance ensemble” at the school-college; "Ballet Master's Art", "Pedagogy of choreographic art", "Pedagogy of ballroom dance", "Art History" and "Art Management" in the Bachelor program; "Choreography", "Art History" and "Art Management" in the Master program; "Choreography" and "Art History" in PhD program. At the Faculty of Choreography there is a double-diploma program and dual education, at the Faculty of Arts - a second higher education, a specialized Master's program (1 year).
The educational programs of the new educational institution have been developed taking into account the established, proven methods of teaching classical dance of the A. Ya. Vaganova ARB, MSAC and the A. V. Seleznev ACS. The experienced masters and young teachers work in collaboration with the recognized teachers from leading Russian and foreign schools, where they have internships and invite to conduct master classes.
The key to quality education is the teaching staff of the Academy, which includes guest specialists from leading choreographic schools and centers of Kazakhstan. The Faculty of Choreography of the National University of Arts was completely transferred to the Academy, teachers and graduate students of the A. V. Seleznev ACS were invited. In addition to the best Kazakhstani teachers-choreographers who improved their skills in the recognized ballet schools in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the guest foreign experts such as the Honored Artist of RF Konstantin Zaklinsky, People's Artist of RF, Honored Figure of the RF Georgy Kovtun, Elena Sherstneva, Anton Lukovkin teach to the students of the T.K. Zhurgenov KazNAA.
The repertoire of the Academy is based on the best examples of classical ballet heritage, national and modern choreography. Students demonstrate their art not only at the Academy, the theatres "Astana Opera" and "Astana Ballet", but also successfully presented their concert programs in the theaters of Almaty, Baku, Tashkent.
The first reporting concert took place on May 29, 2017. On December 27 of the same year, the premiere of the ballet "The Nutcracker" by P. I. Tchaikovsky, choreography by V. Vainonen, staged by A. Asylmuratova, was a bright event for the Academy. In 2022, the ballet "Romance of a Rosebud and a Moth", choreography by M. Petipa, staged by Vasiliy Medvedev, was presented. Head of the Department of Concert Activities and Stage Practice Gulnara Aliyeva.
The Academy actively cooperates with the leading choreographic schools of different countries such as China, Japan, Great Britain, Italy, Uzbekistan, and Russia, where pupils and students participate in competitions and festivals and teachers are invited to conduct master classes. During this period, pupils and students of the Academy won 44 awards from various choreographic competitions: 4 Grand Prix; 2 Gold medals; 2 Silver medals; 1 Bronze medal; 23 Laureates of the 1st place, 14 Laureates of 2nd place; 6 Laureates of the 3d place and many Diplomas in different nominations.
Various competitions are held at the Academy: International Ballet Festival-Competition "TEMPS LIE" (2018, 2021); Shara Zhienkulova Republican Competition of Kazakh dance (2019, 2023); International Competition of Choreographers (2022, 2023). Since 2018, the Republican subject Olympiad in choreography has been held annually. In the framework of the festivals and competitions at the Academy, the well-known figures of choreographic art held master classes for the students: I. Mukhamedov, U. Lopatkina, A. Liepa, S. Zeromsky, E. Kuzmina and many others.
Since 2017, the Academy has been publishing the scientific journal "ARTS ACADEMY" which serves as a platform for the exchange of topical issues in the field of choreographic art with participation of the academic staff and researchers from different countries, as well as young researchers, Master and PhD students of the Academy (editor-in-chief - Zhanna Tolysbayeva). Science cafe aimed to develop the skills of scientific collaboration of teachers, undergraduate, Master and PhD students is actively operating. At the Faculty of Choreography, a laboratory of Kazakh dance was created (2019), headed by Toygan Izim. The "OnerLab" laboratory operates at the Faculty of Arts, the head is Gulnara Zhumaseitova. As part of the work of the laboratory, the “Handbook of Kazakh Dance” (2021), the joint monograph “The Choreographic Art of Kazakhstan: Traditions and Modernity”, the encyclopedia “The Choreographic Art of Kazakhstan: personalities, performances, groups” (2023), experimental program on Kazakh dance for technical and vocational education (2023) were published; the academic staff implement scientific projects in the framework of the State funding of the MES RK.
