Biography
One-act ballet.
Composer - Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Libretto - Alexey Chichinadze (Moscow, RSFSR), Vladimir Fiedler (Leningrad, RSFSR), based on the “Divine Comedy” by Dante Alighieri. Choreography and staging - Zaurbek Raibayev, Diploma thesis at the A. V. Lunacharsky GITIS together with "Chopiniana" and "Bolero". Production designer - Vladimir Semizorov. Production conductor - Turgut Osmanov.
The premiere took place on June 19, 1962 on the stage of the Abay SAOBT.
Characters and performers: Francesca - Valentina Kuznetsova; Paolo - Vladimir Vasiliev, Anuarbek Jalilov; Gianciotto - Leonid Taganov, Gani Akzhanov.
Young Francesca and Paolo are passionately drawn to each other, but the cross of the militant church grows menacingly between them. Love at the call of the heart is cruelly doomed to eternal torment. The story of the beloved couple is developed in the films: “Prologue”, “At the Altar”, “Captured by Treachery”, “Memories”, “Love and Consolation”, “Plastic Bas-relief”, with their pathos - love is stronger than death.
