Biography

Ballet in 3 acts, 4 scenes.

Composer - Alexander Zatsepin. Libretto, choreography and staging - Dauren Abirov, based on the fairy tale story by Lazar Lagin, based on "The Tale of the Fisherman" from the cycle "A Thousand and One Nights". Production designer - Vladimir Semizorov. Production conductor - Abram Movsh.

The premiere took place in 1956 on the stage of the Abay SAOBT (according to Lidia Sarynova, the premiere took place on December 28, 1961).

Characters and performers: Old Man Hottabych - Abduakhim Asylmuratov; Volka - Gani Akzhanov; Irinka - Salima Akbarova; Goldfish - Valentina Kuznetsova, Sara Kusherbayeva; Ocean - Vladimir Vasiliev, Anuarbek Jalilov.

The Soviet pioneer Volka releases a genie from a thousand-year imprisonment - Old Man Hottabych, who, after his release, swears allegiance to his young savior. After magical and funny adventures, an ancient genie is re-educated and finds his place in the modern world.

In the first picture of the first act, the dances of the pioneers, Hottabych, Volka were replaced by the games of Volka and Irinka, flying on a magic carpet. The second picture unfolded in the market. African, Egyptian, Vietnamese, Indian dances were replaced by scenes of confrontation between the people and the police.

In the second act, which took place in the sea kingdom, a variation of the Golden Fish, dances of seahorses and octopuses, goldfish and waves alternated with the adventures of Volka and Hottabych.

The third act is a divertissement of variations of the main characters, national dances of Russian, Kazakh, Lithuanian and Uzbek pioneers, which ended with general jubilation and a scene of joy.
