KAIRBEKOV Bakhyt Gafuovich
Biography
(23.02.1953, Alma-Ata) – poet, translator, film director, screenwriter, librettist. Honored Figure of Kazakhstan (2002), holder of the “Kurmet” Order (2016), member of the Union of Writers and the Union of Cinematographers of the RK, Academician of the Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio (Russia, Moscow).
Graduated from the A. M. Gorky Moscow Literary Institute (1975), postgraduate study program at the Abay Kazakh Pedagogical Institute (1982), Higher Courses for scriptwriters and directors at the GosKino USSR (1989).
The author of more than 15 poetry collections, 5 books, translated the works of famous Kazakh poets and prose writers into Russian. Screenwriter and director of more than a hundred documentaries on history and culture of the Kazakh people, participant and winner of the International Film Festivals. Author of lyrics, libretto for youth musicals: “Dostar Serti” (“Oath of Friends”) at the Astana Musical Theater (2016); “Astana – menin mahabbatym” (“Astana – my love”) Palace of Peace and Accord (2017).
Author of the libretto for the ballets “Alem”, choreographed by N. Dmitrievsky (2014), “Zhusan” (2014), “Language of Love” (2016), “Sultan Baybars” (2020), “Silk Road” (2022) choreographed by M. Avakhri, “The Legend of Zhelturanga” (2020) choreographed by A. Sadykova, “Call of the Steppe” (2020) choreographed by Patrick de Bana.
