KOLODENKO Vladimir Mikhailovich
Biography
(26.06.1907, Odessa - 9.08.1980, Alma-Ata) - theater artist. Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR (1938), member of the Union of Artists (1940), participant in the Great Patriotic War, was awarded the Red Star Order.
He gained the art education at the Odessa Art College. In 1926 he participated in the first All-Ukrainian art exhibition, worked as a decorator in Odessa, Novosibirsk, Leningrad, Sverdlovsk, Tomsk, Baku, Kuibyshev.
Since 1937, he worked in Alma-Ata, held the position of the Chief artist of the Kazakh Opera and Ballet Theatre, production designer for the opera performances: "Rusalka" by A. Dargomyzhsky, "Boris Godunov" by M. Mussorgsky, "Prince Igor" by A. Borodin, "Golden Grain” by Y. Brusilovsky; national ballet "Koktem", which premiered on November 8, 1940.
In 1945, after the Great Patriotic War, he returned to Alma-Ata and continued to work at the Abay Opera and Ballet Theatre, created the set design for the opera and ballet performances: "Eugene Onegin", "Sleeping Beauty" by P. Tchaikovsky, "Cio-Cio-San", "La Boheme" by G. Puccini, "Red Poppy" by R. Gliere, "Tulegen Tokhtarov" by A. Zhubanov, "Altynshash" by N. Zhiganov etc. In parallel with theatrical activities, he worked in the genre of cityscape; his works have been included into the Fund of the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts of the RK.
