Biography

One-act ballet in 3 scenes.

Composer - Manuel de Falla. Libretto - Gregorio Martinez Sierra, based on the legends and fairy tales of the Andalusian gypsies. Choreography and staging - Lyailya Mambetova. Production designer - Vladimir Kriventsov.

The premiere took place on December 29, 30, 1992 on the stage of the Abay SAOBT.

Characters and performers: Carmelo - Murat Tukeyev; Candelas - Gulzhan Tutkibayeva; Lucia - ballet soloist; Phantom - ballet soloist; Gypsies - the female composition of the corps de ballet; Friends of Carmelo - the male corps de ballet.

The young gypsy Candelas is not left by the Phantom of her dead lover. However, having met Carmelo, the gypsy refuses the Phantom, who is chasing her. With a plea, Candelas asks the sorcerer Lucia to save her from the Phantom and in desperation agrees to obey her sorcery. The "Dance of Fire" begins, in which Lucia tries unsuccessfully to rid Candelas of the Phantom. Then Lucia seduces the Phantom, saving Candelas from obsession. Love triumphs! Candelas invites everyone to the wedding celebration. Love, the sorcerer unites the hearts of the young people.
