PRIZE OF TRADITIONS INTERNATIONAL CLASSICAL DANCE FESTIVAL
Biography
Founder: Eurasian Cultural Foundation. The General Director is Yerulan Kanapyanov, a well-known composer, public figure and philanthropist. Administrative Director - Elena Parfentieva. Director of creative programs - Danara Musakhan. The first event took place in 1995, Almaty.
The aim: development of choreographic art in Kazakhstan, expansion of direct creative contacts with world ballet figures, teachers and choreographers, as well as the progressive movement of Kazakhstan to the space of universal human values.
In total there were eight festivals: in 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005.
Laureates of the I Festival "Prize of Traditions" (1995): Galina Ulanova, Yuri Grigorovich. Laureates of the II Festival (1996): Vadim Pisarev, Yuri Vasyuchenko. Diploma winners: Leyla Alpieva, Stefan Dahl, Yumiko Takeshima. Laureate of the III Festival (1997): Maya Plisetskaya. Festival events were held in Almaty and other cities of Kazakhstan. The IV Festival (1998) was held in two cities (Almaty and Astana) and was dedicated to the memory of Galina Ulanova at the initiative of V. Vasiliev and E. Maksimova, and was called "Dedication to Ulanova". For the first time in Kazakhstan, the San Francisco Ballet troupe, as well as the prima ballerina of the Mariinsky Theatre Altynai Asylmuratova, took part in the V Festival (1999-2000). In 2000, the rock-opera-ballet "Takyr" on the theme of the ecological disaster of the Aral Sea was shown. Music - by E. Kanapyanov, N. Kulsariyev, choreography - by G. Adamov. Premieres were held in Almaty and Astana.
As part of the VI Festival (2001), two programs were presented, spring and autumn, the first one was held with the participation of the Flamenco Theater from Madrid (Spain), and a competition among professional groups for the best performance of Spanish dance was also included into the program. The second stage included a performance by the Imperial Russian Ballet.
Two stages of the VII Festival (2003) were first presented by the Step Dance Ensemble from Los Angeles (USA), and then a Gala concert of the stars of the Russian Ballet was held in Astana and the premiere of the play "Giselle" at the K. Baiseitova NOBT with the participation of the leading soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia.
VIII Festival (2005) was held in Almaty and Astana, and included the Evening of classical ballets at the K. Baiseitova NOBT, the play "Don Quixote", a Gala concert at the Abay SAOBT.
In different periods, M. Plisetskaya, V. Vasiliev, E. Maksimova, A. Asylmuratova, N. Semizorova, M. Lavrovsky, S. Filin, V. Pisarev, V. Malakhov, U. Lopatkina, G. Stepanenko, as well as the masters of Kazakh art B. Smagulov, G. Tutkibaeva, M. Tukeyev, L. Alpieva, S. Kaukov and others presented their creativity at the Festival.
Based on the results of the “Prize of Traditions” Festivals, four full-length films were shot: “Constellation” with the participation of G. Ulanova and Y. Grigorovich (1995); "Ballet Stars Festival" jointly with Republic television (1996); "Days with Plisetskaya" jointly with the TRC of the President of the RK (1997); "Concert with Maya Plisetskaya" jointly with Khabar Agency (1997).
