SALAVATOV Renat Salavatovich
Biography
(05.11.1949, Chimkent) - conductor, composer. People's Artist of the Tatar ASSR (1982), Honored Artist of the RF (2010), Honored Figure of Kazakhstan (2019), holder of the “Kurmet” Order (2004), Laureate of the G. Tukay State Prize of the Republic of Tatarstan (2020), holder of the Order of Friendship (RF, 2020), Honorary professor of the Kurmangazy National Conservatory.
Graduated from Moscow Central Music School in cello class (1969); Faculty of symphonic conducting of Leningrad State Conservatory (1974); postgraduate studies at the P. I. Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory.
1974-1975 - Chief conductor of the Chamber Orchestra of Kazakhstan Radio; 1976-1978, 1985-1989 - conductor, Chief conductor of the Abay State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre; 1979-1985 - Chief conductor of the State Symphonic Orchestra of the TASSR; 1989-1990 - conductor of the S.M. Kirov Leningrad State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre; 1990-1995 - pianist and conductor of the National Theater of Bavaria (Munich, Germany); 1996-2001 - conductor of the Royal Swedish Opera (Stockholm). In different periods he performed in the English National Opera, the New York Metropolitan Opera, the Bolshoi Theater, the Grand Opera in Paris, etc. Since 2001 - Chief conductor of the Abay State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, since 2003 - Chief conductor of the Musa Jalil Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The author of the national fairy tale ballet "Alkissa" (2006) and the children's ballet "Kyskiyaly" (2008), choreography by V. Goncharov, staged at the K. Baiseitova NOBT. In the new edition, the performance was staged at the City Opera and Ballet Theater in Shymkent under the title "The Snow Queen" and became the first children’s full-fledged ballet with orchestral accompaniment.
