Biography
(07.05.1930, Lebyazhye village, Kirov region, RSFSR - 30.09.1982, Alma-Ata) - graphic artist, muralist. Honored Art Figure of the KazSSR (1965), Laureate of the Chokan Valikhanov State Prize of the KazSSR (1979), People's Artist of the KazSSR (1981), Winner of Bronze and Gold Medals at the book exhibitions in Leipzig, I Prize and Gold Medal at the International Graphic Biennale in Krakow, Diploma Winner at the International exhibitions in Venice, Budapest.
He gained art education at the N.I. Feshin Kazan Art School (1946-1951), Riga Academy of Arts. In 1957 he graduated from the Graphics Department of the I.E. Repin Leningrad Art Institute. In Leningrad, he studied with G. Ismailova, with whom he arrived to Kazakhstan.
Among the works in the genre of book graphics, the most famous are illustrations for the Kazakh folk tales: "Merry Liars" (1958), "Kazakh epic" (1959). In the period 1971-1979 he created a series of autolithographs "Aksakals" and illustrations for M. Auezov's novel "The Way of Abai". For the cycle "Reading Seifullin" he was awarded a Gold Medal at the International Book Exhibition in Leipzig (1965). He created monumental graffito and mosaic frescoes on the facades of the buildings, introducing national elements into them. The author of several paintings and mosaics for the Auezov Drama Theater, Cinemas and Palaces of Culture.
In the Abay SAOBT he created scenery for the ballet "Frescoes" by T. Mynbayev (choreography by Z. Raibayev), which premiere took place on July 9, 1981, during the theater's tour in Leningrad.
