Biography
(03.11.1940, Rome) - artist who has won international recognition for her works on the performances in drama and musical theater, as well as in cinema.
She began to study law, at the same time she studied at a theater school. After meeting with the set designer, Frigerio, she left the stage and began working as an artist. She made her debut at La Scala in 1980, creating costume designs for the ballet "The Miraculous Mandarin" choreographed by Roland Petit. Throughout her creative activity, she fruitfully collaborates with the largest theaters in the world: the Royal Theater of London, the Metropolitan Opera, the Zurich Opera, and the Vienna State Opera. She worked a lot in the cinema, there are more than 23 films in the creative baggage.
At the "Astana Opera" Theatre, she created costume designs for the following performances: the ballets "Sleeping Beauty", "Swan Lake", "Romeo and Juliet", "The Fountain of Bakhchisarai", "La Bayadère", "Don Quixote", "Le Corsaire", "Giselle" and the operas "Abay", "Madama Butterfly", "La boheme", "Carmen", "The Barber of Seville".
Awards: Gold Medal for Distinguished Service in the Fine Arts. Academy Award "Oscar" for the film "Cyrano de Bergerac" (1990), director J.-P. Rappeneau. Laureate of the International Opera Star-2019 Award in the nomination "Best costume designer". Holder of the Dostyk Order II degree (2021).
