Biography

TELYAKOVSKY Vsevolod Vladimirovich (12[25].02.1894, St. Petersburg - 7.01.1963, Leningrad) - artist, theater decorator. Honored Art Figure of the KazSSR (1956). Holder of the medal "For Labor Distinction" (1959). Member of the Union of Artists of the Kazakh SSR.

He began to learn painting from A. Golovin and K. Korovin. He continued at the Ranson Academy in Paris, teachers M. Denis and F. Vallotton. After the outbreak of the First World War, he returned to St. Petersburg, and was mobilized into the army.

1918 - Mariinsky Theatre, assistant to A. Golovin.

1924 - 1927 - teacher of decorative painting at the State Architectural Institute.

In 1935 he and his wife were exiled from Leningrad to Kazakhstan to Atbasar city. 1935-1936 - he worked at the Atbasar Theatre.

1936 - 1938 - production designer at the State Opera and Ballet Theater (Abay SAOBT). Created scenery in the operas: "Eugene Onegin" by P. I. Tchaikovsky, "The Queen of Spades" by P. I. Tchaikovsky, “The Snow Maiden” by N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov, “Pagliacci” by R. Leoncavallo, “Carmen” by G. Bizet, “Faust” by C. Gounod. In the ballets "Coppelia" by L. Delibes (staged by Y. Kovalev, 1937, 1945); "Swan Lake" by P. I. Tchaikovsky (staged by L. Zhukov, 1938).

1938-1941 - chief artist of the Aktobe Regional Drama Theater. Designed performances: “Ayman-Sholpan” and “Enlik-Kebek” by M. Auezov, “Kyz-Zhibek” and “Zhalbyr” by E. Brusilovsky, “Kozy-Korpesh and Bayan-Sulu” by G. Musrepov. Among his 15 works at the Bakhrushin Theater Museum, a sketch for the play "Kyz-Zhibek" has been preserved (1938).

1941-1946 - artist at the Abay State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.

1946-1956 - chief artist of the Theater for Youth. Together with N. Sats, he participated in the preparation and opening of a new team.

1950-1952 - participated in the design of the Kazakh pavilion at the VDNH.

In 1961 he returned to Leningrad. Before leaving, he donated 94 art objects to the museum. Thus, in the A. Kasteyev State Museum of Arts, a kind of "Telyakovsky Gallery" was formed. This personalized gallery includes personal works of the theater artist: 137 watercolor and 5 pictorial sketches of scenery and costumes; a series of ten picturesque panels which were created based on the Kazakh epic; still lifes, which he began to paint in 1959-1960 when he retired. A number of art objects of the artist on the themes of the Kazakh epic are kept in the private collections.
