TEMIRBEK ZHURGENOV KAZAKH NATIONAL ACADEMY OF ARTS

Biography

In 1955 at the Kurmangazy Institute of Arts (now the Conservatory), the Theater Faculty was opened. In 1977, on its basis, the Almaty State Institute of Theatre and Art was created (ASITA). In 1989 the Institute was named after T. K. Zhurgenov. In accordance with the Decree of the Government of the RK No. 236 of February 14, 2000, on the basis of the former Kazakh State Institute of Theater and Cinema and the Kazakh State Academy of Art, the T. K. Zhurgenov Kazakh State Academy of Arts was established, in 2001 the academy was given the "National" status.

In 1994, on the basis of the A.V. Seleznev ACS, the Higher School of Choreography was opened, the first educational institution that provides training of teachers for higher and secondary specialized educational institutions of choreographic profile, as well as production ballet-masters for the work in professional creative teams. The initiators and founders of the HSC were the prominent figures of the choreographic art of Kazakhstan: B. M. Zhantayev, D.T. Abirov, B.G. Ayukhanov, S.I. Kusherbayeva, M. Zh. Tleubayev, E.D. Malbekov, S.I. Andosov, L.A. Zhuykova, L. А. Mambetova, K.M. Zhakipova, R.M. Kurpeshova, S.A. Nauryzbayeva, E.A. Ussin.In 1997, the Higher School of Choreography was transformed into the Faculty of Choreography of the T.K. Zhurgenov KazSITC (now KazNAA). B.M. Zhantayev became the first director of the HSC (1994-1997).

In different periods, the Faculty was headed by the well-known teachers, masters of choreography: K.N. Andosov (1994-2010), N.L. Goncharova (2001-2002), A.T. Alisheva (2011-2012), D.V. Sushkov (2012-2022), Gulmira Gabbasova (since 2022).

The Faculty of Choreography consists of two departments "Pedagogy of Choreography" and "Ballet Master’s Art". The Department "Pedagogy of Choreography" offers training of specialists in the educational program "Pedagogy of Choreography", training profiles "Teacher of Choreography", "Teacher of Sports Ballroom Dance", "Teacher of Modern Choreography".

In different periods, the department "Pedagogy of Choreography" was headed by: R. E. Ungarova (1997-2002); O. B. Shubladze (2002-2007); A. A. Tati (2007-2009); A. T. Alisheva (2009-2011); L.V. Kim (2011-2022); I. R. Aukhadiyev (2022-2023).

In 2020 the department "Choreography Directing" (1994-2020) was renamed as the "Ballet Master's Art". In different years, the Department of Ballet Master's Art was headed by: E. A. Ussin (1994-2002); G. U. Tutkibayeva (2002-2020); A. T. Moldakhmetova (2020-2023).

Currently, the Faculty provides training at the following educational levels: Bachelor, Master's, PhD programs. Along with the educational process, the research work takes an important place, scientific and practical conferences and seminars are organized. Over the years, the dance ensemble Asian students dance of the Faculty of Choreography has been a Laureate of prestigious competitions: VKIBC (Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition, USA, 2013), TANZOLIMP (Berlin, Germany, 2018, 2020), R. Zakharova Russian competition of ballet masters "Maria" (Moscow, 2017, 2022), Istanbul Harmanfolk Culture Competition (Turkey), Silkway World dance festival 2023.

With the purpose of supporting and developing the creative potential of young choreographers and teachers, identification of talents and inclusion of them into the list of potential applicants, the Faculty of Choreography established the Republican Competition for young choreographers "Uly Dala Jastary", which was held in 2018, 2019, 2021-2023.

During different periods, the well-known teachers, masters of choreography taught at the Faculty of Choreography: K. M. Zhakipova, S. A. Nauryzbayeva, O. B. Shubladze, A.M. Jalilov, E.D. Malbekov, R.S. Bapov, A.A. Akbarova, M.Sh. Kadyrova, G.N. Beisenova, S.Zh. Kosmanov, U.A. Mirseidov, V.V. Evseyeva, T.V. Terekhova, B.T. Suleyeva, E.G. Esyreva, G.Yu. Saitova, G.V. Adamova, A.B. Askarbekova and many others.

Preserving the traditions which were initiated by the figures of Kazakh choreography, the Faculty of Choreography continues to develop successfully. Today, a highly professional teaching staff works at the Faculty: R. Kh. Baiseitova, G. U. Tutkibayeva, N. L. Goncharova, V. A. Goncharov, L. V. Kim, L.A. Zhuykova, D.V. Sushkov, Gulmira Gabbasova, Gulnara Gabbasova, L.A. Nikolayeva, A.M. Zhumagaliyeva, T.D. Klyshbayev, A.T. Isaliyev, A.T. Moldakhmetova, I.R. Aukhadiyev, A.N. Karymbayeva, N.V. Likucheva, S. Malivanova, A.V. Tsoi. Concertmasters: I.G. Kozlova, A.M. Dosmukhambetova, E.A. Shatalova, N.A. Antonova.
