THUMBELINA

Biography

Children's one-act ballet.

Music - Sergei Prokofiev, Valery Gavrilin. Libretto, direction and choreography - Damir Urazymbetov.

The ballet was staged for the students of the 2-5 years of study at the Theater of Young Artists "Orleu" of the A. V. Seleznev ACS. The premiere took place on May 18, 2013.

Characters and performers: Thumbelina - Irina Badenko; Swallow - Beibarys Akarys; Field mouse - Herta Bichler; Wealthy mole - Timur Kan; frogs, beetles, butterflies, grasshoppers, bees, mice, moles, swallows, elves - students of the 2-5 years of study.

The ballet is built on the main plot twists and turns of the tale by H.-C. Andersen, "addressing human nature and characters, their vices and advantages through the characters of the animal world" (K. Dzhumagaliyeva). Thumbelina meets frogs in a swamp, the butterflies save her, and she gets to the ball of important insects - beetles, grasshoppers, bees. When Field Mouse tries to arrange her marriage with the Wealthy Mole, Thumbelina is rescued by swallows, led by the Swallow, and they find themselves in the fairy-tale world of the elves.
