Biography

Ballet dancer, teacher.
Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR (1958).
In 1937, Sofia's family moved from Tashkent to Alma-Ata
1944 – simultaneously entered the first grade of secondary school No.24 and the Kazakh State Choreographic School, teachers: M. Mroz, A. Nikolayev, A. Seleznev.
In 1951, Sofia’s parents moved to Karaganda, and the girl had to go to a boarding school at a choreographic school.
On January 18, 1953 – being a student of the 9th grade, she was enrolled in the Abay Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre as a ballet dancer.
From October 1, 1953 – was transferred to the position of a top-level ballet dancer of the Abay Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
On March 14, 1975, she ended her stage career.
The artistic individuality was most fully revealed in the images of the Lilac Fairy (“Sleeping Beauty”), Zarema and Slavic woman (“The Fountain of Bakhchisarai”), Altynai (“On the Way of Friendship”), Girls (“Bolero”), Mekhmene Banu (“Legend of Love”), Myrtha ("Giselle"), Pierrette ("The Bronze Horseman"), Gudule ("Esmeralda").
The ballerina performed the parts of Zarema ("The Fountain of Bakhchisarai") and Altynai ("On the Way of Friendship") at the Decade of Kazakh Art and Literature in Moscow (1958).
She possessed high performing skills, her dance was characterized by soft lyricism, smooth melodiousness and flexibility of hands, emotional expressiveness was combined with strong technique. In addition to ballet performances, she performed with great success the character and folk dances in opera performances and in the concert repertoire of the theater.
Since 1973 – teacher of classical dance at the Alma-Ata Choreographic School.
Awards: Medal "For the development of virgin lands" (1956, 1969), Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR and the CC of the Trade Union of Cultural Workers for active work in preparing and holding the VI All-Union Festival of Youth and Students (Moscow, 1957), Laureate of the II degree), Certificate of Honor of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR (November 5, 1958), Certificate of Honor of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the TASSR for successful participation in the week of Kazakhstan Arts and Literature in the Tatar ASSR (1962).
