Biography

USMANOV Vakil Alexandrovich (Almaty) - ballet dancer, ballet master, teacher. Professor of the European Academy of Ballet "St. Polten" (Austria); Laureate of the All-Union Competition of Moscow Ballet Masters (I Prize and Gold Medal, 1980); Laureate of the International Ballet Competition in Varna (Prize for the best modern choreography, 1988).

He graduated from Almaty Choreographic School on specialty "Ballet Dancer" (1967). Graduated with honors from GITIS on specialty "Ballet Directing", class of R. Zakharov.

1967 (July-August) - ballet dancer of the Abay SAOBT; 1967 (September) - soloist of the ballet of the State Classical Dance Ensemble of the Kazakh SSR "Young Ballet of Alma-Ata". Repertoire: ballet "Kyz-Zhibek" (music by Y. Brusilovsky, choreography by B. Ayukhanov); Solo "Bolero" (music M. Ravel, choreography by B. Ayukhanov); “Dance of Dombrists” (music by Dauletkerei, choreography by B. Ayukhanov)

Since 1976 - ballet master, and then chief ballet master of the Moscow Academic Choreographic School. He headed the Ballet Theater under the Union of Composers of the USSR.

In 1988 - created the Vakil Usmanov Moscow Theater of Choreography. Staged more than 14 ballets in Moscow, Tallinn, Baku, Alma-Ata, Kazan, Odessa, Austria, Italy, Astana. Choreographic compositions in the "Young Ballet of Alma-Ata" (1967). "Yellow Sound" to the music by A. Schnittke; "Pas de Quatre" divertissement to the music of C. Pugni; "Love and Death" music by P. Bulbuloghlu (2005); "Nights in the gardens of Spain" to the music of M. de Falla. "Nureyev forever" (2009-10 theatrical season) in Kazan, director of the concert program dedicated to R. Nureyev's jubilee. He staged the ballet "Voyage" by Renato Zainulla as a new version (2010).

At the Astana Opera Theatre, he staged the ballet "Karagoz" (2014) to the music by G. Zhubanova in the musical edition of A. Mukhitdinov, and is also the author of the libretto.

Pedagogical activity: artistic director and teacher at the A.V. Seleznev Almaty Choreographic School (1968); taught at the choreographic schools in Perm and Moscow.
