Biography
VIKENTIEVA Natalya Vladimirovna (30.03.1918, Chita - 18.01.1993, Almaty) - ballet dancer. Honored Artist of the Kazakh SSR (1954), Holder of the "Badge of Honor" Order (1958).
She graduated from the ballet studio of the Kuibyshev Mobile Opera in Alma-Ata (1938). She began her artistic activity in 1935, went through a creative path from a corps de ballet dancer to a prima of the Abay SAOBT (1935-1960).
She is one of the brightest dancers of the first generation, who affirmed the traditions of the classical heritage in the Kazakh ballet theater. In 1958 based on the results of the Decade of Kazakh Art and Literature in Moscow, she was awarded the "Badge of Honor" Order. Performed leading roles in the theatre's ballet performances: Odette-Odile ("Swan Lake"), Parasha ("The Bronze Horseman"), Maria ("The Fountain of Bakhchisarai"), Giselle ("Giselle"), Kitri ("Don Quixote"), Princess Aurora ("Sleeping Beauty"), Pascuala ("Laurencia"), Syuimbike ("Shurale"), Zhamilya ("On the Way of Friendship"), Natasha ("Coast of Happiness"), etc.
The artistic individuality of N. Vikentyeva largely determined the choreographic text of many ballet parts, she is the first performer of Zhamilya in the national ballet "The Dzungarian Gate" (1957) choreographed by Yu. P. Kovalev.
From 1960-1965 she conducted pedagogical and tutoring work at the Abay SAOBT, passing on her skills and experience to the younger generation of ballet dancers. Due to her creativity, a peculiar interpretation of stage images, new artistic colors, she made a great contribution to the development and formation of classical traditions on the Kazakh ballet stage.
