Biography
18.08.1912, Verny (Alma-Ata) - May 21, 1991, Alma-Ata.
The founder of the national professional dance art, teacher, head of choreographic groups. Honored Artist of the KazSSR (1936), People's Artist of the KazSSR (1938); Laureate of the State Prize of the KazSSR (1968).
Talented dancer, who was engaged in amateur performances. On the professional stage, Shara's main mentor was the teacher and ballet master A. A. Aleksandrov.
1929-1930 - studied at the Faculty of History of the Abay Kazakh State Pedagogical Institute.
1929-1933 - dramatic actress of the Kazakh Drama Theater.
1933-1940 - ballet dancer of the I position, since 1934 leading soloist of the ballet of the Kazakh Music and Drama Theater. Performer and co-author of the first national dances, which emerged on the theater stage. The first Kazakh dance "Kelinshek", choreographed and performed by her, was one of the brightest episodes of the musical drama "Aiman-Sholpan", which was staged for the opening of the theater. Later, the repertoire was enriched with solo dances in the operas: "Kyz-Zhibek", "Zhalbyr", "Er-Targyn". She performed the main part of Mamyr in the first national ballet "Kalkaman and Mamyr" to the music by V. Velikanov.
1940-1962 - soloist of the Zhambyl Kazakh State Philharmonic. The repertoire includes pop and dance miniatures, a new genre for the Kazakh dance art: Shara decorated the dance with her singing. Along with Kazakh songs and dances, the dance art of the peoples of the world was presented: Indian dance "Kanatari", Arabic "Mustafa" and "Zulfiya", Japanese "Torikoto" (with singing), Chinese, Mongolian, Egyptian, Spanish, Korean, Cuban, etc.
1941-1945 - as part of concert teams she performed at the fronts of Kaluga, Smolensk, Volokolamsk.
After the war, at the Philharmonic Society, Shara created a female choreographic ensemble, which was popular not only in Kazakhstan. The team took part in the Decade of Kazakh Literature and Art in Moscow with the dance "Girl's Dance" (1958).
1962-1966 - Artistic director of the State Song and Dance Ensemble of the KazSSR. Over the years, she staged Kazakh dances to folk melodies: “Ahau, nazik”, “Aygolek”, “Agazhan Latipa”, “Auyl senіn belde edі”, “Aizhan kyz”, “Apitok”, “An salsam”, “Bipyl”, “Balquray”, “Bylkyldak”, “Dudar-ay”, “Zhariyam aidai”, “Zhas kelin”, “Besik zhyry”, “Karatorgay”, “Kyzdar-ay”, “Moldabay”, “Nak-nak”, “On alty kyz”, “Saulem-ai”, “Top shengel”, “Mausimzhan”, “Ukilim-ay”, “Shili ozen”, “Kos-Alka”. A number of dances were produced to the music of modern composers: “Alatau”, “Zhylkyshy kyz” and “Sarzhailau” by N. Tlendiyev, “Almatym Menin” by M. Sagatov, “Adem-au” and “Eligim-erkem” by E. Khasangaliev, “Kazakh valsi" by L. Khamidi, "Kamazhai" - a folk song in transcription of B. Erzakovich, "Ontustikte ak maqta" by S. Karimbayev, "Sauynshy zhengey" and "Saira bul-bul bakshada" by Y. Brusilovsky, "Su tasushi kyz" by B. Baykadamov, "Shakhter Bii" by M. Tulebayev, "Toi Zhyry" by D. Suleyev.
She left bright images in national cinema, starred in the films “Amangeldy” (1938), “Daughter of the Steppes” (1954), “Our Dear Doctor” (1957).
1965-1975 - teacher of the Kazakh dance, artistic director, organizer of the folk dance department, and since 1966 - director of the KSCS.
Among her students: Peoples Artist of the KazSSR G. Talpakova; Honored Artists of KazSSR K. Karabalinova, G. Orumbayeva, B. Baizhumanova; Leading teacher of Kazakh dance at A.V. Seleznev ACS G. Beisenova and other prominent personalities who played a big role in the development and popularization of Kazakh dance.
1975 - 1987 - ballet master of the Kazakh Concert.
Shara Zhienkulova summarized her rich performing experience in the books “Kazakh Dances” (1955), “Mystery of Dance” (1980), “Omirim Menin - Onerim” (1983), “Symbat” (1987), “Dances of Friends” (1989).
Since 1992, Shara Zhienkulova Republican Kazakh Dance Competition has been held in Kazakhstan.
Awards: “Badge of Honor” Order (1936), Lenin Order (1959), Order of the Labor Red Banner (1962, 1972), medals "For Military Merit", "For Labor Distinction", etc.
