Biography

Composer, teacher, publicist, public figure. Laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize of the KazSSR (1964); Honored Artist of the KazSSR (1965); Laureate of the Kurmangazy State Prize of the KazSSR (1970); People's Artist of the KazSSR (1973); People's Artist of the USSR (1981). Professor (1978).

1949- graduated from the Gnesins State Musical School (Moscow).

1954 - P. Tchaikovsky MSC, and in 1957 - postgraduate studies at the P. Tchaikovsky MSC in the class of composition of the professor Y. Shaporin.

1962-1968 - Chairperson of the Board of the Union of Composers of the KazSSR.

1962-1991 - Member of the Board of the Union of Composers of the USSR.

1975-1987 - Rector of the Kurmangazy KSC.

She is the author of 5 operas, 3 oratorios, 5 cantatas, 6 symphonic works, 1 concerto, 12 chamber compositions and music for films and dramatic works. For the ballet theater, she wrote music for the ballets "Akkanat", "Hiroshima", "Karagoz", "Madama Butterfly", which were created in different periods of the creative work. One of the best works was the ballet "The Legend of the White Bird" (1966), which was awarded the State Prize of the KazSSR. The originally planned ballet triptych was revised by the creative team into a ballet consisting of two one-act short stories.

In 1990, on the stage of the Abay SAOBT the premiere of the ballet "Karagoz" directed by G. Aleksidze (libretto by A. Mambetov and G. Aleksidze based on the tragedy of the same title by M. Auezov) took place. The ballet "Madama Butterfly" is a transcription of the opera "Cio-Cio-San" (1992), production ballet masters Asami Maki and Kyozo Metani (Japan). In 2014, on the stage of the “Astana Opera” SOBT, ballet master Vakil Usmanov, acting as the author of the libretto, staged the ballet "Karagoz", having significantly revised the musical material together with the author of musical editing and conductor A. Mukhitdinov.

1958-1975 - pedagogical activity at the Kurmangazy KSC. She trained a whole galaxy of famous composers of Kazakhstan such as A. Serkebayev, T. Mukhamedzhanov, K. Shildebayev, A. Bestybayev, A. Rayimkulova, B. Daldenbayev, A. Mambetov, A. Zhaksilykov and others.

Awards: Medal "For labor distinction" (1959); Laureate of the I Prize at the All-Union Theater Review in Moscow for the ballet "The Legend of the White Bird" (1966); medal "For valiant work in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of V. I. Lenin" (1970); A.V. Alexandrov Silver Medal for the "Heroic Poem" and "Festive Overture" (1973).
