KOROGODIN Igor Nikolayevich

Biography

31.08.1938, Chelyabinsk – summer of 1986, Palanga.

Theatrical stage designer, member of the Union of Artists of the KazSSR (1966), member of the Union of Artists of the USSR (1970).

In 1956, the family moved to Kazakhstan, where his father was sent to work in connection with the development of virgin lands.

1956-1960 – graduated from the Alma-Ata Art College.

1960-1966 – studied at the I.E. Repin Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture on specialty “Painting”. Teachers: M.P. Bobyshev, A. I. Segal. He defended his Diploma thesis – Sketches of scenery and costumes for V. Mayakovsky's play "Mystery-Bouffe" with excellent marks, and was conferred the qualification "Artist of theatrical and scenery painting."

1966-1971 – the Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Abay. Upon graduation he worked at the USSR Ministry of Culture at the position of production designer. Then he worked as the main artist. He created performances that have become classics of the artistic design of the Abay KazSAOBT: “The Legend of the White Bird” (new edition, 1967), “Chin-Tomur” (1968), “Don Quixote” (1969), “La Bayadère" (1971).

Later, working on the performances of the M.O. Auezov Kazakh Academic Drama Theater, the M.Yu. Lermontov Russian Academic Drama Theater, the G. Musrepov Theater for Children and Youth, Korogodin continued to collaborate with the Abay SAOBT, creating scenography for M. Mussorgsky's opera "Boris Godunov" (1972), children’s ballet “Russian Tale” by M. Chulaki (1975), operas by M. Tulebayev “Birzhan and Sara” (1975), E. Rakhmadiyev “Song of Virgin Lands” (1980). ), T. Khrennikov "Into the Storm" (1982), B. Britten "Peter Grimes" and the unrealized production of an opera performance based on the tragedy of W. Shakespeare "Richard III, or Ordinary Fascism" (1982).

1977-1986 – in parallel with the creative work, he taught at the Art Department of the Alma-Ata Theater and Art Institute (now - T. Zhurgenov KazNAA).
